Donor Impact

When you give a little more, we can get— and do— a lot more.

Your Contributions

For over fifty years, you have helped us give people a hot breakfast, lunch, pantry bags, and shelter services. Through your contributions, we now serve 170,000 meals every year—and a little goes a long way.

CHiPS is a nonprofit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization. Contributions are tax-deductible and directly support the soup kitchen and women’s shelter.

The Growing Demand

We aim to serve anyone and everyone who comes to us for food, but the number of people we serve each day has increased dramatically since 2022.

In the first few months of 2023, we supported asylum seekers bused up from Southern states in droves and dropped off in Brooklyn without adequate food, shelter, or winter layers.

Our response to the asylum seeker crisis was only possible with massive amounts of support from members of our community and other local aid organizations. In the months following the first wave of arrivals, we saw a significant increase in monetary and in-kind donations.

We’ve seen no sign of these numbers slowing down, and we’re committed to continuing the growth and development of our program to more fully meet the needs of our guests and neighbors.

How Your Gift Helps

While one-time donations are welcome, ongoing monthly contributions create a powerful impact.

$15 per pantry bag

The cost of a pantry bag at our Food Pantry Program.

$4.00 per meal

The cost of a meal at our community meal program.

$3,000 per month

The cost to house a resident at our Frances Residence.

$50 per month provides 150 meals annually.

Bulk buying is key to our ability to serve our guests at scale. When you raise your donation by just a few dollars—say, from $10 to $20—we’re able to double the amount of items we can buy from our wholesalers.

If you have any questions about making a donation or to request information for a stock or EFT gift, please contact us.
